About The Friday Club

The Friday Club was formed more than 40 years ago by a group of single people looking for fun and companionship at weekends. It has now evolved into a social club for all people over the age of 50 years, from the area broadly covered by Camberley, Yateley, Farnborough, Farnham, and Fleet.

The programme of events is planned every three months at a dining evening held at a local hall. Members submit ideas to the programme co-ordinator and then take on the responsibility of booking tickets or arranging meeting points, walks etc. This is not an onerous task, and new members are not expected to organise events until they have been in the club for at least 6 months. Thereafter, members are expected to organise two events per year. Holidays are arranged by anyone willing to take on the task and maybe just a week -end away in the UK or longer holiday abroad. Over the last few years we have visited France, Bulgaria, Gran Canaria, Sicily, Madeira, Sardinia and Barcelona.

Popular 'At Homes' are held in members homes. Members each bring a dish of food , sweet or savoury which usually results in a varied selection. They also bring along whatever that want to drink. Themed 'At Homes' have included, board games, quizzes, race nights and video evenings.
Theatre visits are also popular, using local theatres or sometimes to the West End when transport is usually provided.

Charity events are held during the year and The Friday Club have recently sent donations to the Phylis Tuckwell Hospice, The British Heart Foundation, Home Start for Surrey Heath, RNLI, Frimley Park Breast Care, and Arthritis Care.

The annual cost of membership (2024) is £25.
